Job Summary
The Junior Trading Specialist supports the daily trading and commercial operations of FDCUI's power plant portfolio. This role ensures the accurate execution of trading activities, compliance, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY FUNCTIONS/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Power Plant Dispatch MonitoringMonitor the dispatch of power plants to ensure compliance with operational schedules, system operatorinstructions, and regulatory requirements. Promptly flag and help address any deviations or issuesaffecting plant performance or market obligations.2. Market Offer Preparation and SubmissionPrepare and submit electricity market offers based on market demand, price signals, operational capacity,and contractual obligations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy in submissions to the Wholesale ElectricitySpot Market (WESM).3. Bilateral Contract ManagementCoordinate and manage bilateral contract quantities (BCQ) with customers to ensure alignment withagreed terms. Prepare and submit BCQ declarations to the market operator accurately and on time.4. Stakeholder CoordinationCollaborate with plant operators, system operators, and market operators to support daily tradingactivities, resolve operational concerns, and maintain compliance with WESM rules and protocols.5. Trading Data ManagementMaintain and update trading databases with real-time and historical market data, transaction records, andcontract details to ensure accuracy, traceability, and support for internal analysis and reporting.6. ReportingGenerate and submit daily, weekly, and compliance reports summarizing trading activities, market trends,price behaviour, and contractual performance.7. Market Rule ComplianceEnsure strict adherence to WESM rules and trading guidelines, including accurate execution of transactionsand complete documentation of all commercial operations.8. Market Simulation and Forecasting SupportAssist in electricity price simulation and forecasting using available tools and methodologies. Provideinputs to the trading team for developing strategies and optimizing market participation.9. Process Improvement and Support TasksIdentify areas for process improvement within trading operations and assist in implementing newworkflows or tools. Perform other commercial operations-related tasks as assigned.10. And other task that might be assigned as needed
Technical Competencies and Skills
At least 2 years of relevant experience in the electric power industry, working knowledge of the Electricity Markets, Effective verbal and written communication skills, Proficient in Microsoft Excel or similar tools for data analysis and reporting, Familiarity with VBA Python or C# for automation and advanced spreadsheet functionality, Knowledge of SQL for data extraction and analysis, Experience on trading VRE plants (Solar Wind etc)
