Financial Planning Associate

 Job Description:

Our client is a rapidly growing wealth management firm located in Greater Detroit, MI. They are seeking a Financial Planning Associate to join their team. The Financial Planning Associate plays a critical role as the bridge between clients, advisors, and internal operations, ensuring exceptional client service and consistent follow-through on financial planning tasks. This position supports advisors by managing the preparation, execution, and follow-up of client meetings, maintaining accurate data in our systems, and collaborating with both the Client Service and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare deliverables for client/prospect meetings: reports, plans, reviews, and documents.
  • Schedule client meetings and handle related preparation and follow-up.
  • Attend client meetings, take notes, and track tasks in Salesforce.
  • Maintain client data and populate Know Your Client (KYC) and financial planning information.
  • Assist with proposing trades, executing transactions, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Adhere to workflows and tools like Salesforce, Tamarac, and RightCapital.
  • Review quarterly billing and reporting for accuracy.
  • Manage client onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Support year-end/tax tasks: 1099s, cost basis, contributions, RMD tracking.
  • Communicate with professionalism and empathy in all client interactions.

Performance Outcomes

  • Client tasks completed on time and accurately documented.
  • Consistent and high-quality meeting preparation and follow-up.
  • Up-to-date and complete KYC and financial data for each client.
  • Responsive to client inquiries within expected timeframes.
  • Smooth onboarding/offboarding experiences for clients.
  • Strong collaboration with Advisors, Operations, and Client Service teams.
  • Positive, trust-based client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in finance, economics, business, or related field.
  • 3+ years experience in financial services or related industry.
  • Financial literacy and comfort with data and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and discretion with confidential info.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Tamarac, and RightCapital preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Base salary range ($80-$130k), commensurate with experience
  • Bonus opportunities available.
  • 401k with match.
  • PTO policy: 15 days off in thefirst 12 months of employment, and then unlimited PTO policy going forward.
  • NYSE holiday calendar (10 days) and close the office for an extra day around July 4th and the day after Thanksgiving.
  • Parental leave policy is 3 months paid. In the first 12 months its prorated based on days employed.
