This key individual will oversee a diverse portfolio of CRE and C&I loans, with a focus on asset quality, credit risk monitoring, and team development. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a seasoned credit professional to play a central role in the risk oversight of complex commercial lending portfolios.

Workplace (On-site, Hybrid, Remote): On-site in Northern New Jersey
Function: Responsible for the oversight, risk assessment, and team management of a CRE and C&I commercial loan portfolio including special mention and adversely rated credits while supporting asset quality and regulatory reporting efforts.
Requirements:

Bachelors degree required
- Minimum of 15 years of commercial credit experience, including CRE and C&I lending

Formal credit training is mandatory
- Strong leadership background with experience mentoring credit or portfolio managers
- Deep understanding of portfolio management, risk rating, credit policy, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with complex credit scenarios including workouts, bankruptcies, and foreclosures

Strong financial analysis and credit risk assessment skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and CRM platforms

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong organizational and time management abilities
Description:
- Lead credit monitoring and risk oversight for CRE and C&I portfolios, ensuring timely identification and response to deteriorating credit conditions
- Manage annual credit reviews, covenant tracking, and risk rating updates across all assigned accounts
- Oversee high-risk loans, including those past due, rated special mention or worse, or requiring enhanced monitoring
- Guide and mentor a team of Portfolio Managers, fostering professional growth and consistency in credit analysis
- Coordinate directly with Relationship Managers, borrowers, CPAs, and third-party vendors to gather and evaluate financial information
- Collaborate with executive leadership on monthly reporting, asset quality reviews, and credit strategy initiatives
- Monitor portfolio concentration risks, conduct stress testing data reviews, and provide recommendations for risk mitigation
- Support regulatory and internal audits by ensuring the accuracy and completeness of portfolio reporting
- Recommend strategies for managing criticized/classified assets and advise on proactive credit resolution approaches
