FinTrust Connect, a trusted partner of a well-established financial institution, is seeking a Senior Director of Tax Operations & Automation in St. Petersburg, FL. This pivotal role will support enterprise-wide tax strategy and compliance efforts, modernizing systems and processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

Workplace (On-site, Hybrid, Remote): Hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days remote) in St. Petersburg, FL

Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MST strongly preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience, with a focus on operational leadership and compliance.

  • Proven track record managing multi-entity, multi-jurisdictional tax compliance in 20+ states.

  • Strong proficiency with Blackline, Lawson, Adaptive Insights, and Excel-based tax models.

  • Expertise in ASC 740 tax provisions, SALT compliance, apportionment, and nexus evaluation.

  • Experience leading teams, mentoring staff, and implementing system-driven tax processes.

  • Familiarity with SOX, internal controls, FIN 48, and audit readiness practices.

  • Exceptional analytical, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Description:
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the tax function, managing federal, state, and local compliance across a complex holding company structure.

  • Oversee all aspects of state and local tax (SALT) including income, franchise, sales/use, and property tax filings, registrations, and audits.

  • Partner with IT and Finance teams to enhance and automate tax workflows using Blackline, Lawson, and Adaptive Insights.

  • Support ASC 740 provision work and tax-related financial reporting, including tax footnotes, forecasts, and FIN 48 positions.

  • Manage audit readiness, regulatory correspondence, and alignment with SOX and internal control frameworks.

  • Identify and implement process improvements that reduce risk, streamline compliance, and accelerate close timelines.

  • Build and mentor a high-performing tax operations team; provide coaching, training, and career development opportunities.

  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Tax Strategy & Automation to support broader strategic initiatives, including M&A and entity restructuring.
