Job Overview
The Camp Boss will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the camp, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and productive environment for both campers and staff. This role includes planning, staff management, and maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
Camp Planning and Organization
- Develop and implement comprehensive camp plans, including daily schedules, activity calendars, and emergency procedures.
- Conduct daily inspections of camp rooms and allocate accommodations for new staff.
- Oversee the management of facilities to ensure high standards of housekeeping, maintenance, and pest control.
- Coordinate with parents and guardians to gather necessary information and address any concerns.
Camp Operations
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers and staff by implementing appropriate safety measures and addressing incidents promptly.
Staff Management
- Provide leadership and support to camp staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure smooth camp operations.
- Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
Safety and Security
- Ensure that the facility complies with all safety and security regulations; develop and implement emergency procedures.
- Monitor security systems and address any security concerns as they arise.
- Manage the daily activities of the housekeeping department, ensuring appropriate cleaning of all rooms, public areas, and offices.
Cleanliness and Patient Satisfaction
- Plan, organize, and direct team members to ensure high standards of cleanliness and patient satisfaction throughout the camp facilities.
- Monitor, check, and maintain cleanliness standards within all areas daily.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelors degree in education, recreation, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience working in a summer camp or similar setting.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
