About the job Mechanical Project Engineer

Junior Project Engineer (Mechanical Bias)

£30,000 - £35,000 + Vehicle / Allowance

Kent / South East - Field & Office Based

Are you currently working as a Junior or Assistant Project Engineer and looking for the next step?

More responsibility, more site involvement and a bigger role in delivering real engineering projects?

This growing engineering business in Medway is looking for someone exactly like you, a mechanically minded Junior Project Engineer who wants to take ownership, work closely with the Director and develop quickly.

About the Company

Youll be joining a well-established engineering firm specialising in:

  • Machinery installations, removals and factory relocations

  • Complex lifting operations, including cranes and specialised equipment

  • Projects across manufacturing, industrial, recycling and production sites

  • Delivering turnkey solutions from initial enquiry to final commissioning

Theyre a small, close-knit team, not a corporate giant.

Youll work directly with the Director, have real input in how projects run and be trusted to get on with things with proper support, not micromanagement.

The company is growing fast, with planned acquisitions and an increasing volume of inbound enquiries, meaning progression here is very real.

What Youll Be Doing

A mix of office, site and planning work, including:

  • Visiting customer sites to carry out surveys

  • Helping prepare quotes, costings and simple project plans

  • Producing or contributing to RAMS, lift plans and documentation

  • Coordinating labour, equipment and resources

  • Supporting live projects and checking progress onsite

What Were Looking For

Someone already working in a junior project role who wants a bigger platform.

Ideal backgrounds:

  • Junior Project Engineer / Assistant Project Engineer

  • Technical or Project Coordinator with mechanical understanding

  • Service Engineer or Mechanical Technician with project exposure

  • Machine Builder / Commissioning Technician with customer contact

Youll need to be:

  • Mechanically minded

  • Good with IT (Word, Excel, basic documents)

  • Comfortable speaking to customers and suppliers

  • Happy travelling around the South East

  • Organised, reliable and proactive

Training provided in:

  • RAMS & documentation

  • Lift planning (AP pathway)

  • AutoCAD LT

  • Quoting & commercial skills

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Over 200 inbound enquiries last year, no cold calling

  • Direct mentorship from the Director

  • Clear progression into a senior position

  • Growing company with acquisitions planned

  • Vehicle or allowance

  • Supportive, friendly team culture

This is the ideal chance to move beyond project support, and step into genuine project ownership.
