ABOUT THE ROLE

Aegis Risk Solutions is seeking an experienced and commercially minded General Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operational management and continued growth of the business.

Reporting directly to the Directors, the General Manager will have significant autonomy and will work closely with the leadership team to execute the company's strategic vision, drive growth and profitability, strengthen operational processes, and develop the team.

This is a senior leadership position suited to an individual who can take ownership, make sound commercial decisions, and translate strategy into measurable business outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business and ensure effective service delivery.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve operational systems, processes, controls and reporting frameworks.
• Work closely with the Directors to develop and execute the company's growth strategy.
• Drive business development, revenue growth, client acquisition and client retention.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, scalability and profitability.
• Lead, manage and develop staff while establishing clear performance standards and a strong company culture.
• Oversee compliance, governance, regulatory requirements and risk management.
• Manage relationships with insurers, binders, suppliers and other key stakeholders.
• Monitor business performance, budgets and profitability and provide meaningful reporting to the Directors.
• Take ownership of operational challenges and implement practical, commercially sound solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• A strong tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance, Law, Risk Management or a related field.
• CA(SA), CFA, MBA, LLB or similar professional qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Proven experience in a senior operational, general management or leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with an understanding of profitability, budgeting and business performance.
• Strong operational, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience developing and scaling systems, processes and controls.
• Business development and client relationship management experience.
• A sound understanding of governance, compliance and risk management.

ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE

Experience within one or more of the following environments will be highly beneficial:

• Commercial short-term insurance
• Financial services
• FSP or regulated environments
• Risk management
• Senior operational or general management
• Business development and client relationship management
• Financial management and profitability oversight

Experience within construction, mining, manufacturing, engineering or other project-based industries would also be advantageous given Aegis's client base.
