KEY OBJECTIVE:

Reporting to the AVP Reinsurance Accounting, the Senior Accountant, Outward Reinsurance is responsible for managing and analyzing all outward reinsurance activities. This role involves close collaboration with brokers, underwriters, actuaries, and claims teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with treaty terms as well overseeing the collection of loss recoveries. The position requires high-quality accounting work to meet monthly and quarterly closing deadlines.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for producing the outward retrocession reporting, bordereaux and funding statements.
  • Ensure that reinsurance accounts are reported in accordance with treaty terms.
  • Oversee the accounts payable and receivables for the outward reinsurance contracts and ensure timely collection of loss recoveries.
  • Build and foster strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Accurately post accounts into the reinsurance accounting system.
  • Process all related cash receipts and payments and verification of broker invoices.
  • Oversee collateral funding to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Identify gaps and make recommendations to improve efficiencies.
  • Participate in department projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in outward reinsurance accounting or a similar financial role, minimum 5 years.
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated elevated level of responsiveness, client service and efficiency when working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate or Advanced knowledge of Microso
