Functional / Senior Functional Consultant: Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O

Objective of the Role:

The Functional / Senior Functional Consultant is responsible for the successful delivery and configuration of D365 F&O modules. You will collaborate with clients to understand their business challenges and translate them into efficient, scalable system configurations. This role requires a hands-on expert who can manage the functional lifecycle from initial discovery through to go-live and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Process Discovery: Facilitate workshops to understand client business processes and document requirements that need to be incorporated into the D365 environment.

  • System Configuration: Perform hands-on configuration of D365 F&O in at least 2 core areas: Finance, SCM, Manufacturing, or Advanced Warehousing.

  • Gap/Fit Analysis: Conduct analysis to determine the difference between standard application features and client business processes, recommending standard workarounds where possible.

  • Documentation: Author high-quality Functional Requirement Documents (FRD) and Functional Design Documents (FDD) for customizations, ensuring clear communication with the technical team.

  • Solution Validation: Lead functional testing, validate business practices within the system, and assist clients during User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Data Mapping: Identify legacy data components and define the appropriate mapping for data migration into D365, working with technical staff to ensure successful conversion.

  • Creative Problem Solving: Identify and implement creative solutions using standard D365 F&O configuration to minimize custom code and reduce gaps.

  • Team Collaboration: Work as a core member of the delivery team, collaborating with developers, project managers, and 3rd party application providers.

  • Training & Support: Develop and deliver training materials to end-users and provide hyper-care support during system go-lives.

  • Quality Assurance: Maintain the quality of implementation by adhering to best practices, project methodologies, and Microsoft standards.

Functional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3–5 years of implementation experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O (or AX 2012).

  • Project History: Participation in at least 1–2 full-lifecycle ERP implementations.

  • Module Exposure: Proven ability to configure Finance, SCM (with Advanced Warehousing), or Manufacturing modules.

  • Technical Literacy: Ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technical requirements; familiarity with LCS (Lifecycle Services) and DevOps is a plus.

  • Communication: Strong presentation and communication skills; able to lead meetings and guide client stakeholders.

  • Analytical Skill: Solid Business Analysis and process mapping skills (experience with Visio or similar tools).

  • Methodology: Working knowledge of MS Sure Step or similar implementation methodologies.

  • Plus Points: Experience with E-commerce integrations, Marketplaces, or 3rd party shipment/logistics systems.

  • Certifications: Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O certifications in relevant modules are highly preferred.
