Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days in-office or at client sites)

Salary Range: $138,000 – $172,500 / yr

The Role

As a Tax Manager within the Methods, Credits & Incentives (MCI) practice, you will navigate the complexities of Research & Development (R&D) tax credits to provide insightful, practical advice to a diverse client base. You will be empowered from day one to lead R&D projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with firm standards.

This role is highly collaborative; you will work closely with MCI leadership to research technical tax issues, conduct fieldwork, and drive business development through sales and marketing efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Manage multiple engagements simultaneously, taking ultimate responsibility for overall project deliverables.
  • Technical Execution: Conduct client site visits and facility tours to investigate relevant facts.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Prepare cost lead schedules, summary schedules, and tax computations.
  • Consultation: Draft comprehensive written reports summarizing findings and providing strategic recommendations.
  • Growth & Development: Support business development by identifying opportunities and assisting with proposal development for prospective clients.

Technical Skills & Qualifications



Must-Haves:

  • Certification: Active CPA or JD/Active Attorney's License is required. Please note: Enrolled Agent (EA) certifications are not accepted for this role.
  • Industry Experience: 6–10 years of experience in R&D tax credits (experience in Fixed Assets or Tax Accounting Methods will also be considered).
  • Public Accounting: At least 4 years of experience in Accounting or Tax within a public accounting or consulting firm.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Required Expertise:

  • Proven project management experience.
  • Strong mastery of Federal R&D rules and familiarity with relevant state rules and court cases.
  • Proficiency in tax return mechanics and experience with amending tax returns.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or a related Management Science field.
  • Experience serving clients in Technology, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Construction, or Hospitality sectors.

Work Requirements

  • Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to various client sites as required.
  • Adherence to the hybrid schedule (3 days in office/site) effective March 2026.
