About the job Functional Consultant
Responsibilities
- Design functional specifications and system configurations aligned with business requirements, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Configure finance system modules based on approved functional specifications and business processes.
- Conduct gap analysis between current business processes and system capabilities, and recommend process improvements and enhancements.
- Facilitate workshops and requirement gathering sessions with business stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain functional design documents, process flows, and configuration documentation.
- Support unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for finance modules.
- Provide functional support during data migration activities to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Conduct end-user training and prepare training materials.
- Support go-live activities and provide post-implementation functional support.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with technical teams to resolve functional and integration issues.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure accurate translation of business requirements into system specifications.
- Ensure quality, consistency, and completeness of functional design and configuration deliverables across the implementation team and subcontractors.
- Maintain proper records of functional design, configuration, testing, and service activities throughout the contract period.
- Analyse and document business requirements for financial processes, including:
- General Ledger (GL)
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Fixed Asset Management
- Cash Management
- Financial Reporting
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills in process mapping, gap analysis, and requirements documentation.
- Experience with system configuration, testing methodologies, and data migration.
- Familiarity with financial reporting tools and business intelligence platforms.
- Understanding of month-end/year-end closing, budget management, and financial consolidation processes.
- Experience with audit requirements is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Singapore Government procurement and governance processes is advantageous.
- Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented mindset.
- Customer-focused with good organizational and people management skills.
- Good written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in finance ERP implementations using platforms such as:
- SAP Finance
- Oracle Financials
- Microsoft Dynamics
- Equivalent ERP solutions
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in finance ERP system implementations.
- At least 2 years of experience working with the proposed ERP SaaS product.
- Relevant certification in the proposed ERP SaaS product is advantageous.
- Professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent are advantageous.
- Experience in Government finance systems or public sector financial management is advantageous.
