About the Role

We are looking for an experienced DevOps / Software Engineer to join the SHIPHATS platform team, supporting the shared developer platform that powers enterprise software delivery pipelines across the organisation.

This role is suited for engineers with strong hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, networking, CI/CD platforms, and automation, with a passion for enabling secure, scalable, and efficient software delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineering
  • Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS environments
  • Manage networking components including VPCs, subnets, VPNs, routing, firewalls, and DNS configurations
  • Support and optimise hybrid or multi-cloud infrastructure environments
  • Ensure platform scalability, reliability, security, and operational efficiency

CI/CD & DevOps Automation

  • Manage and enhance enterprise CI/CD tooling platforms such as GitLab, Nexus, Nexus IQ, SonarQube, Jenkins, or equivalent tools
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar technologies
  • Develop and optimise CI/CD pipelines to support secure and efficient software delivery
  • Monitor and improve deployment reliability, system performance, and operational stability

Monitoring, Security & Operations

  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or CloudWatch
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, networking, and platform-related issues
  • Collaborate with security, networking, and application teams to ensure compliance with organisational standards and governance requirements
  • Support DevSecOps initiatives, platform security, and operational best practices

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

  • Contribute to platform engineering standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support the organisation's Northstar / DP Programme initiatives
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to DevOps and development teams
  • Support platform-related operational enquiries and stakeholder requests

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related disciplines
  • 4–8 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, or related roles
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms
  • Good understanding of cloud networking concepts including VPCs, VPNs, routing, DNS, and firewalls
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Familiarity with CI/CD platforms such as GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps
  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or CloudWatch
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Good to Have

  • Experience managing hybrid or multi-cloud environments
  • Familiarity with developer platform tools such as Vault, Nexus, SonarQube, or equivalent
  • Understanding of OIDC, SSO, and identity management concepts
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps, governance, and compliance practices within CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to enterprise platform engineering or large-scale shared services environments
