Jobs Purpose
Designing, analysing, optimizing, and maintaining metallurgical processes in designated area (Acid Plant & ETP/Electrorefinery/Hot Metal Operations/PMR/Material Handling & Slag Concentrator/Technical Services) of smelting & refining processes. This role ensures efficiency, safety, environmental compliance, and cost-effectiveness in smelting & refining operations.
Jobs Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and improve metallurgical processes for smelting and refining operations, including material handling.
- Integrate advanced technologies for automation and monitoring.
- Implement safety protocols to protect personnel from operational hazards.
- Maintain compliance with environmental regulations related to emissions, slag, and waste management.
- Track and adjust process parameters (temperature, pressure, composition) to support optimal performance.
- Respond promptly to alarms and abnormal conditions, ensuring process stability and safety.
- Oversee equipment performance across designated areas (furnaces, kilns, converters, electrolysis systems).
- Monitor product quality to meet industry and customer specifications. (i.e Copper/Gold 99,99%)
- Prepare reports on process performance, material usage, and environmental impact.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, automation, laboratory, and environmental teams.
- Identify inefficiencies, troubleshoot issues, and conduct root cause analysis.
- Lead and support long-term optimization projects to reduce energy consumption and minimize waste.

- Do plant data analysis for daily troubleshoot and future improvement.
- Maintain reagent consumption and deliverable to ensure smooth production.
- Ability to provide accurate response in a timely manner to production issues i.e. recipe, process duration, etc.
- High variability in the data being analyzed and processed.
Requirement Education & Experience
Education:
Master's or bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, chemical engineering, or any related processing fields.
Experience:
Five (5) or Seven (7) years of experience in Chemical Plants, Metal Refining, or Electrolysis Processes with Smelting & Refining manufacturing industry or having experiences in hydrometallurgical plant (leaching, solvent extraction, ion exchange, resin, etc).
Knowledge, Skills & Characters
Knowledge
- Good understanding on hydrometallurgy or other similiar processes.
- Understand process instrument, sequence, interlock, process parameters, chemical reagent, MSDS, hazardous chemical, process philosophy, control philosophy, and sampling philosophy.
- Having License of Pengawas Operasional Pratama (POP).
Skills
- Operating Metallurgical Software (Metsin, Factsage, etc).
