About the job Environmental - Scientist, Data Compilation
Provide integrated and comprehensive data and information regarding environmental related conditions as assigned, especially on Acid Rock Drainage (ARD), which will be used in further decisions for the determination of impact management strategies of the company.
The key duties and responsibilities of this position are:
- Conduct routine and non-routine environmental inspections focused on water quality.
- Collect water samples from various sources including rivers, lakes, groundwater, and industrial discharge points.
- Analyze water quality parameters such as pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, BOD, COD, and presence of contaminants.
- Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national environmental regulations.
- Document findings and prepare comprehensive inspection reports.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to address environmental concerns.
- Recommend corrective actions or improvements based on inspection results.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and sampling activities.
- Required to perform routine installation and calibration of equipment at each designated monitoring point to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
- Compiling and quality control of online data system water quality
- Understand and be aware of safety and environmental practices in the work area ensuring safe work practices within the group and compliance with company Safety and Environmental SOPs.
The key challenges in this position include:
- Knowing what, how much and when to collect data so that goals and targets are reached: Collection of accurate and consistent environmental data, in locations that range from field to laboratories, that can be used to increase the company's knowledge of the area being investigated.
- The collection and compilation of consistent, accurate, and factual environmental data in this position is vital to the further interpretation and modeling of the data for determination of impact management plans and procedures for the company.
- Establish effective communication with crew members from diverse cultural backgrounds
The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:
Minimum Education
- Minimum bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, or a chemical engineering.
- Certification of Water Sampling
