The purpose of this position is:
The purpose of this position is to provide electrical engineering expertise and technical governance for Dewatering Plant (DWP) and Pipeline systems to ensure safe, reliable, and fit‑for‑purpose electrical design, standards, and system performance. This role functions as the electrical engineering authority for DWP and Pipeline facilities, responsible for engineering support, technical review, system optimization, and design integrity throughout the asset lifecycle. The Electrical Engineer ensures that electrical systems comply with company standards, engineering best practices, and HSSE requirements, while supporting operational reliability and long‑term asset sustainability.
The key duties and responsibilities of this position are:
- Electrical Engineering & Technical Authority
- Act as electrical engineering subject‑matter expert for Dewatering Plant and Pipeline systems.
- Provide engineering support for electrical systems including:
- Power distribution (LV & MV)
- Motors, drives, and associated power equipment
- Electrical systems supporting filtration, drying, pumping, and pipeline operations.
- Ensure electrical systems meet engineering standards, design intent, and operational requirements.
- Electrical Design Review & Engineering Support
- Review and validate electrical engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Provide technical input for:
- New installations
- System modifications
- Upgrades and improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, company standards, and OEM requirements.
- Support development and maintenance of electrical engineering standards and guidelines.
- System Performance & Engineering Optimization
- Analyze electrical system performance to identify opportunities for:
- Improved reliability
- Enhanced energy efficiency
- Reduced technical risk
- Recommend engineering solutions to optimize system configuration and performance.
- Support evaluation of equipment capacity, loading, and power quality.
- Analyze electrical system performance to identify opportunities for:
- Project Engineering & Change Management
- Provide electrical engineering support to DWP and Pipeline projects from concept through commissioning.
- Review technical scopes, datasheets, and technical queries related to electrical works.
- Support Management of Change (MoC) process for electrical system modifications.
- Participate in testing, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning activities as required.
- Engineering Support to Operations & Maintenance
- Provide engineering‑level technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams (second‑level support).
- Assist with root cause analysis of significant electrical failures or systemic issues.
- Recommend engineering‑based corrective and preventative solutions.
- Ensure maintenance strategies are aligned with electrical system design and criticality.
- Risk, Reliability & Asset Integrity
- Support hazard identification and risk assessment from an electrical engineering perspective.
- Contribute to electrical system reliability studies and asset integrity programs.
- Ensure electrical risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated through proper engineering controls.
- HSSE & Engineering Compliance
- Ensure electrical engineering activities comply with HSSE requirements and safe engineering practices.
- Review electrical designs and modifications for inherent safety and risk reduction.
- Support compliance audits and engineering assurance activities.
- Vendor & Technology Evaluation
- Provide technical evaluation of electrical equipment vendors and solutions.
- Review vendor technical proposals and recommend technically suitable options.
- Support technical engagement with OEMs and engineering consultants as required.
- Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Ensure electrical engineering documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date, including:
- Single line diagrams
- Protection philosophies
- Equipment specifications
- Design dossiers
- Develop and maintain engineering records supporting asset lifecycle management.
- Ensure electrical engineering documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date, including:
- Cross‑Functional Engineering Coordination
- Coordinate with:
- Mechanical and Instrumentation Engineers
- Process / Metallurgical Engineers
- Project Engineering and Technical Services
- Operations and Maintenance teams

The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:
Minimum Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Electrical Engineering or Physic Engineering.
- Minimum 2–6 years of experience in electrical engineering roles within industrial, mining, oil & gas, or processing plant environments.
- Experience in electrical design, system analysis, and engineering assurance is preferred.
