The purpose of this position is:

The purpose of this position is to support effective planning, monitoring, and control of projects, maintenance activities, and manpower utilization for Dewatering Plant (DWP) and Pipeline operations. This role ensures that work progress, schedules, costs, and resource usage are tracked accurately, reported timely, and aligned with approved plans, contracts, and operational priorities. The Engineer – Project Control acts as a key operational control function, providing reliable data and analysis to support decision-making by Chief Engineer and Superintendent.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position are:

  1. Project Planning & Scheduling
    1. Develop, update, and maintain project and maintenance schedules for DWP and Pipeline activities.
    2. Support preparation of work plans, shutdown plans, and execution timelines in coordination with Operations and Maintenance teams.
    3. Monitor weekly and monthly progress against approved schedules and highlight deviations.
  2. Progress Monitoring & Reporting
    1. Track physical progress, work completion, and milestone achievement for projects and maintenance scopes.
    2. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and summaries.
    3. Identify schedule delays, productivity issues, and execution risks; escalate findings with recommendations.
  3. Manpower & Resource Control
    1. Monitor manpower deployment, utilization, and productivity (employee and contractor) for assigned scopes.
    2. Validate manpower data including attendance records, work hours, and allocation against approved plans.
    3. Support Chief Engineer in resource optimization analysis and forecasting manpower needs.
  4. Cost Tracking & Basic Cost Control
    1. Track project- and maintenance-related costs against budgets (PO, contract value, or work orders).
    2. Support preparation of cost summaries, variance analysis, and trend reports.
    3. Assist validation of contractor progress claims and cost-related supporting documents.
  5. Data Management & Documentation
    1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project control databases, schedules, manpower trackers, and cost files.
    2. Ensure consistency, completeness, and traceability of data in company systems.
    3. Support audits by preparing relevant documentation and control records.
  6. Cross-Functional Coordination
    1. Coordinate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance teams.
    2. Act as a point of contact for project control and reporting matters related to DWP & Pipeline scopes.
    3. Support communication between field teams and management related to progress and performance data.
  7. Continuous Improvement
    1. Identify opportunities to improve project control processes, reporting tools, and data accuracy.
    2. Support implementation of standardized templates, dashboards, and digital tracking tools.
    3. Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.

8.   HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Responsibilities

  • Ensure all project control activities align with company HSSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support integration of risk assessment (JSA/JHA), hazard identification, and mitigation controls into planning and monitoring activities.
  • Track and report HSE-related data relevant to project execution (e.g., high-risk work, incidents impacting schedule/cost).
  • Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring that planning and reporting reflect safety-first priorities.
  • Support incident investigation processes by providing accurate data, timelines, and resource information.

The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:

Minimum Education & Experience

  1. Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline).
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience in project control, planning, maintenance planning, or operations support roles.
  3. Experience in industrial, mining, oil & gas, or processing plant environments is preferred.
