About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our growing logistics and supply chain organization. This position plays a key role in managing the companys accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the logistics or freight industry and a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting Operations: Manage daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies; assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with leadership to prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses; monitor expenses and provide recommendations for cost control.
- Cash Flow Management: Oversee daily cash management and reconciliation, ensuring liquidity and timely fulfillment of financial obligations.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and audit requirements.
- Month-End & Year-End Close: Lead and coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
- System Improvement: Evaluate and enhance accounting systems, processes, and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Ad-hoc Reporting & Analysis: Support senior management with detailed financial analysis, reports, and data-driven insights as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (CPA or equivalent certification preferred.)
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within the freight, logistics, or transportation industry.
Proven experience managing general ledger, A/P, A/R, and month-end close processes. - Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar platforms.
Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus. - Other: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
