About the role
The Program Manager – Office of AI is responsible for leading the successful delivery of AI initiatives and programs across the organisation, ensuring alignment to strategic priorities, governance frameworks, and measurable business outcomes.
Operating at the centre of the AI ecosystem, this role coordinates multiple AI use cases, initiatives, and delivery streams, ensuring they are prioritised, governed, and executed effectively. The Program Manager plays a critical role in embedding AI into business operations by connecting strategy, delivery, and value realisation.
You will work closely with business units, AI Solution Architects, data and engineering teams, and senior stakeholders to ensure AI initiatives are delivered responsibly, at scale, and in alignment with enterprise architecture and AI governance standards.
This role also incorporates Agile delivery leadership, enabling efficient flow of work, removing delivery impediments, and fostering iterative, outcome driven ways of working across AI initiatives. This role offers a hybrid working environment.
Location: Sydney or Melbourne (preferred); flexible across other cities in Australia.
Key Responsibilities
AI Program Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the planning and delivery of enterprise AI programs
- Manage a portfolio of AI use cases aligned to strategy and business value
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams across data, engineering, architecture and business
- Own program timelines, risks, dependencies and delivery outcomes
- Ensure smooth transition of AI solutions into business‑as‑usual
Strategy Alignment & Value Realisation
- Align AI initiatives to organisational strategy and Office of AI priorities
- Track, report and realise benefits, ROI and business outcomes
- Support prioritisation of AI use cases based on impact, feasibility and risk
Governance & Responsible AI
- Ensure compliance with AI governance frameworks, policies and standards
- Embed responsible AI practices including ethics, transparency and risk management
- Oversee regulatory, ethical and operational risks across AI programs
- Support governance forums, reporting and decision‑making
Agile Delivery & Ways of Working
- Enable agile, iterative delivery across multiple AI initiatives
- Lead program‑level planning, reviews and retrospectives
- Manage cross‑team dependencies and remove delivery impediments
- Use delivery metrics to drive continuous improvement
Stakeholder Management & Business Partnering
- Build strong relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders
- Act as the central coordination point across AI teams and business units
- Communicate progress, risks and outcomes clearly and confidently
Planning, Financial & Resource Management
- Develop and manage program plans, budgets and resourcing
- Track costs and ensure delivery within agreed scope, timeline and budget
- Optimise resource allocation to maximise impact and efficiency
Capability & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to AI delivery frameworks, playbooks and best practice
- Support uplift of AI capability and delivery maturity
- Promote innovation and responsible AI adoption across the organisation
About you:
Essential:
- Proven experience (7–10 years) in program or portfolio management within technology or transformation environments
- Experience delivering complex, cross functional programs in enterprise environments
- Exposure to AI, data, or digital transformation initiatives
- Strong understanding of program governance, risk management, and delivery frameworks
- Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments
- Strong financial and resource management capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desired Experience & Knowledge / Other Relevant Information
- Experience delivering AI, data, or advanced analytics programs
- Familiarity with AI governance, ethics, and responsible AI frameworks
- Experience working with architecture, data, and engineering teams
- Understanding of Agile frameworks (e.g. Scrum, SAFe) at a program level
- Experience in consulting or matrixed environments
- Knowledge of benefits realisation frameworks and value tracking
Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or related field
- Program or project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, PMP) preferred
