About the job Head of Finance

Our client, a distinguished financial institution, is seeking a meticulous and dynamic Finance Head to join their Finance Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the General Manager to develop and execute effective  financial strategies that align with business goals and market dynamics.
  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for the Hong Kong office.
  • Oversee all aspects of the finance function, including financial planning and analysis (FP&A), accounting operations, and financial and management reporting.
  • Guide the local Finance team in performing financial control functions and KPI analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, financial, corporate, and statutory regulations.
  • Analyze and interpret operating results in relation to costs, budgets, and operating policies, while maintaining operating budgets.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial and management reports for the office.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports and surveys to Hong Kong and US regulatory bodies.
  • Serve as a key liaison with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).
  • Develop and implement robust internal control procedures.
  • Provide insightful, value-added information and analysis of monthly results, including regular non-financial reports such as KPIs.
  • Recommend cost control and profit improvement strategies to management.
  • Collaborate with headquarters on financial reporting, accounting treatments, and disclosures to ensure US GAAP compliance.
  • Contribute to the development of accounting treatments for new products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification, and a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in financial institutions, investment banks, or multinational corporations.
  • Experience in auditing, in-house finance, or with a Big 4 accounting firm is highly desirable.
  • Experience in leading and managing finance transformation projects.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise and a solid understanding of IT accounting systems.
  • Business acumen combined with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership and management abilities in guiding teams of finance professionals.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
