About the Opportunity

Join NGHs Ecology Services Team and play a hands-on role in Australia's energy transition. We're looking for experienced Fauna Spotter Catchers and Field Ecologists for FIFO contract opportunities.

You'll have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of biodiversity and environmental management projects, collaborating with our experienced team of ecologists across our offices in Townsville, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle, Wagga Wagga, Sydney, Bega, and Wodonga.

Travel will be a key part of this role, with projects based in regional and remote locations. Excellent working conditions, training, and support are provided to ensure your safety and professional growth.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Conducting pre-clearance surveys for fauna habitats and threatened species
  • Identifying and surveying threatened flora and weeds
  • Capturing and relocating terrestrial and aquatic fauna during habitat clearing
  • Installing and monitoring nest boxes
  • Conducting bird and bat monitoring
  • Collaborating closely with ecologists and senior team members to ensure environmental best practice

What Were Looking For

  • We're seeking passionate, capable professionals who thrive outdoors and care deeply about wildlife and the environment. You'll ideally bring:
  • Proven experience in wildlife handling, fauna spotting, catching, or a similar ecological field role
  • Strong native fauna and flora identification skills
  • A genuine passion for wildlife ecology and working in natural environments
  • Flexibility to travel and work away from home when required
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A mature, safety-focused attitude and adherence to environmental and quality standards
  • Experience with field data collection, GPS devices, and cloud-based tools
  • Fitness for fieldwork and the ability to pass random drug, alcohol, and police checks
  • Construction industry experience (advantageous)
  • A valid open manual driver's licence
