With a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, Fyfe is expanding its Power & Connection capability and is seeking a highly experienced Principal Power Systems Engineer to play a key role in leading and shaping our growing team to deliver high-quality technical outcomes.
The Opportunity
This is a senior leadership position suited to an engineer with specialist expertise in grid connection studies from concept through to execution.
You will be instrumental in delivering complex data centre, renewable energy and storage projects, advancing technical standards, and supporting the continued growth of our sustainable energy portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Lead and drive generation and load connect projects from initial advisory, feasibility studies and impact assessments across major developments including Industrial Facilities, Data Centres, Hydrogen, Solar/BESS Renewable Developments
- Mentor a team of engineers, fostering capability development and technical excellence
- Oversee project delivery to ensure outcomes meet quality, cost, safety and schedule requirements
- Apply innovative and advanced engineering principles to solve complex problems and deliver innovative, fit-for-purpose solutions
- Contribute to the development of best practices, standards, and technical frameworks within the business
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, network service providers, and project partners
Requirements
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering; Chartered, RPEQ, or RPEV status desirable
- Minimum 10 years' experience in grid connection projects with strong knowledge of R0, R1, and R2 connection studies
- Deep understanding of TNSP, DNSP, and AEMO requirements and proficiency in PSSE, PSCAD, DIgSILENT
- Motivated to build, lead, and mentor a team while setting technical direction and standards
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills with a collaborative mindset
- Proven track record in technical leadership and project delivery
- Ability to operate at a strategic level while remaining hands-on technically
