Role: Private Family Chef – Full-Time

A German family of five based in Notting Hill with their friendly family dog, is seeking an experienced, health-conscious Private Chef to become an integral part of their household.
This is a long-term position for a highly organised, proactive and personable individual who takes genuine pride in creating delicious, nutritious meals while maintaining an exceptionally well-run kitchen. The successful candidate will work closely with the family's nanny and housekeeper and should enjoy being part of a collaborative household team.
The Chef will become part of a small, professional household team and should be willing to support colleagues where appropriate.
We are looking for someone who: enjoys working closely with the family's nanny and housekeeper; is child-friendly and comfortable around a family dog; is happy to provide practical support during busy periods; is willing and able, on rare occasions and in emergencies, to assist with school pick-ups or other childcare logistics if required.
During school term-time the hours will equate to approximately 30 hours per week, primarily preparing the family dinner and managing kitchen operations. During school holidays hours will increase to approximately 50 hours per week, providing breakfast, lunch and dinner as the family spends significantly more time together.
Flexibility is essential, and the working pattern will reflect the family's schedule throughout the year. This is a full-time position with seasonal flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare fresh, healthy, high-quality meals for the family on a daily basis, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and balanced nutrition.
- Create varied menus suitable for both adults and children, while accommodating dietary preferences where required.
- Take full responsibility for the kitchen, ensuring it remains clean, organised and exceptionally well maintained.
- Manage all food purchasing, grocery ordering, stock control and pantry organisation. Source premium ingredients and maintain relationships with trusted local suppliers.
- Minimise food waste through careful planning and efficient kitchen management.
- Prepare meals for family events and occasional entertaining when required.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience as a Private Family Chef or in a high-end private household.
- Be passionate about healthy, nutritious cooking with restaurant-quality presentation.
- Be highly organised with excellent planning and stock management skills.
- Be discreet, trustworthy and respectful of privacy.
- Have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
- Be proactive, flexible and capable of adapting to changing family schedules.
- Hold a valid driving licence.
- Have the legal right to work in the UK.
- German language skills would be advantageous, but are not essential.
