About the job SEN Retainer Nanny | Knightsbridge

Location: Knightsbridge, London
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £70,000 gross per annum, increasing to £75,000 following successful completion of probation
Accommodation: Private bedroom and bathroom within the family home or nanny apartment

An excellent opportunity for an experienced, professional and adaptable Nanny to join a well-established childcare team within a busy private household in Knightsbridge.

The family have three children (born February 2015, March 2017 and October 2020) and are seeking a confident, engaging and proactive Nanny who enjoys a varied role and can provide exceptional care across different ages and individual needs.

About the Role

Working as one of three Rota Support / Retainer Nannies, the successful candidate will play an important part in supporting the family's established team of Rota Nannies, providing cover during periods of annual leave and sickness.

This is a varied and flexible position, ideally suited to someone who enjoys working with different children, is comfortable adapting to changing routines and thrives in a collaborative household environment.

The children are at different developmental stages, and the family are looking for a Nanny who can build positive relationships with each of them, providing engaging, age-appropriate care whilst maintaining the routines and consistency that are so important to their wellbeing.

Experience supporting children with additional needs is essential, particularly Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and ADHD. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a calm, patient and understanding approach, together with the confidence and experience to respond to each child's individual needs.

When on duty, the Nanny will take responsibility for all aspects of the children's day-to-day care, working both independently and alongside other members of the childcare team.

During school hours and quieter periods, responsibilities will include childcare-related administration, forward planning and preparation for evenings, weekends and school holidays.

As this is a fully staffed household, the role is focused on the children, with no general housekeeping responsibilities.

About You

The family are looking for a Nanny who:

  • Has substantial professional experience caring for children of similar ages.
  • Has proven experience supporting children with ASC and ADHD.
  • Is warm, engaging, patient and confident in their approach.

  • Has excellent organisational skills and enjoys planning ahead.
  • Is proactive, resourceful and happy to use their own initiative.
  • Is an excellent communicator and a genuine team player.
  • Is professional, discreet and brings a mature and considered approach to their work.
  • Is happy to travel with the family, both within Europe and internationally, during school holidays.

Previous experience in a rota or retainer position would be an advantage, although candidates with a strong background in private households and the flexibility to adapt to this style of working are equally encouraged to apply.
