About the job Daily Nanny | Barnes
Role: Daily Nanny
Location: Barnes
Salary: £65,000 per year
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 6:30/7:00 pm
Start Date: End of April
A family based in Barnes are seeking a proactive and highly organised daily (live-out preferred, with live-in considered Monday-Friday if required) nanny to join their household from April/May. The role is to care for their three children - B6, G3 (4 in the autumn) and B22 months, with a baby due in early September. Their current nanny has been with the family for three years and will provide an excellent reference.
This position will suit an experienced candidate who has previously cared for three or more children of mixed ages and who is comfortable balancing both sole and shared care. The parents are hands-on and very involved in their children's lives, so a collaborative approach and strong communication skills are essential. Mum is self-employed and is often around the home, dipping in and out depending on her projects, so the nanny must be confident reading the room and taking initiative without needing direction.
From September, the three older children will be in school and nursery. The youngest will attend nursery from 9 am - 12 pm, and the middle child will attend the same nursery until 3 pm. The eldest is in full-time school. This means mornings will largely involve drop-offs before returning home to support Mum with the new baby (a night nanny will be in place initially). As the baby grows and begins bottle-feeding, the nanny will gradually take on more daytime responsibility.
Afternoons will include school and nursery pick-ups, overseeing activities, organising play, preparing nutritious meals and managing full nursery duties for the children. Mum has previously planned holidays and half-terms, but would now love the nanny to take the initiative in organising half-term activities and local adventures.
The family travel frequently to destinations such as France, Greece, Portugal, Barbados and the Maldives, and would love the nanny to accompany them on some (though not all) holidays, as their current nanny has done. The ability to proxy parent when required is important, as is being discreet and professional within a busy home environment.
The family values routine and consistency, particularly around sleep, structure, table manners and respectful behaviour. The children love swimming, so a strong swimmer is essential. A confident London driver is also required, with two cars available for nanny duties. The family have a membership to Roehampton.
