Description:

The client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join their team in Los Angeles or San Diego. This position is a key technical leadership role, where the selected candidate will work alongside Project Managers and structural engineers to deliver innovative and cost-effective structural designs.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will work on large-scale Type I structural projects, collaborate with architects and designers, and provide expertise on seismic, structural, and high-rise projects. The role offers significant opportunities for career growth in an award-winning structural engineering firm.


Must-Have Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum 7-10+ years of building design experience.

Education: Masters degree in Structural Engineering from a U.S. university (required).

Technical Expertise:

Strong experience with Type I construction (steel and concrete structures).

Experience in a wide range of structural materials and building types.

Ability to design and detail structural systems for large, complex structures.

Proficiency in working with BIM designers, architects, and consultants.

Seismic & Structural Knowledge:

Experience in seismic evaluation and retrofitting (ASCE 41) is a plus.

Experience working with DSA and HCAI/OSHPD is a plus.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

SE License (preferred, but not required).

Strong communication and leadership skills to mentor junior engineers.

Experience working on high-rise, commercial, aviation, healthcare, and institutional projects.


Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage structural engineering designs for large, complex projects.

Work closely with Project Managers, BIM designers, architects, and consultants.

Oversee design calculations, detailing, and structural system development.

Assist in seismic evaluations, retrofitting, and ASCE 41 compliance.

Collaborate on building code compliance and structural integrity assessments.

Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and project planning.

Mentor and provide technical support to junior engineers.
