Our client is a leading technology-driven marketplace operating across Africa, connecting millions of buyers and sellers through innovative digital solutions. As part of its continued growth and market expansion, the company is seeking an experienced and visionary sales leader to spearhead its offline sales operations in Uganda. 

The Opportunity 

  • This is a rare opportunity for a commercially driven sales executive to build and lead an offline sales organization from the ground up. 
  • Reporting directly to senior leadership, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's sales strategy, driving revenue growth, and establishing scalable sales structures in a high-growth environment. 
  • The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities, extensive experience in FMCG or other high-performance sales environments, and a proven track record of building successful sales teams and distribution networks.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Build and establish the company's offline sales function, including structures, processes, systems, and performance frameworks. 
  • Develop and execute sales and business growth strategies aligned with overall business objectives. 
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a multi-tier sales organization, including managers, supervisors, and field sales teams. 
  • Set sales targets, KPIs, and performance standards while ensuring accountability across all levels. 
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams. 
  • Drive market expansion initiatives and support long-term business growth strategies. 
  • Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitor activities to guide strategic decision-making. 
  • Develop a strong performance culture through coaching, mentorship, and leadership development. 
  • Strengthen customer relationships and ensure high levels of client satisfaction and retention. 
  • Oversee sales reporting, forecasting, territory management, and operational excellence across the sales function.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Commerce, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in sales and business development, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role. 
  • Proven experience building sales teams, sales functions, or market operations from scratch. 
  • Strong background within FMCG, telecommunications, distribution, retail, technology, or other high-growth sales-driven industries. 
  • Demonstrated success managing field sales operations, territory management, and distribution networks. 
  • Track record of delivering consistent revenue growth and achieving ambitious sales targets. 
  • Experience leading large, geographically dispersed sales teams. 
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate strategy into measurable business outcomes. 
  • Exceptional leadership, negotiation, stakeholder management, and team development skills. 
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and problem-solving capabilities. Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach to leadership.

Compensation 

  • Gross monthly package of up to USD 2,000 (inclusive of base salary and performance-based bonus). 
  • Exceptional candidates with proven experience from leading international FMCG or multinational organizations may be considered above the indicated budget. 
  • Final compensation structure will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated capability.
