Job Overview
Our client, is a diversified organization operating within the manufacturing and projects space. They are seeking to hire a competent and hands-on Accountant to manage end-to-end accounting functions while supporting office administration. The role requires strong knowledge of Tanzanian statutory compliance, payroll, audits, and financial controls, as well as the ability to supervise teams and continuously improve financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Data Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting/ERP systems
Post daily bank transactions and perform bank reconciliations
Manage petty cash and ensure proper documentation and controls
Maintain accurate inventory records, including valuation and stock takes
Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Generate management reports to support decision-making
Manage receivables through invoicing, documentation, client follow-ups (calls, emails, visits)
Oversee accounts payable, including verification of supporting documents and supplier reconciliations
Tax Compliance & Statutory Reporting
Prepare and file statutory returns in compliance with the Tanzanian regulatory framework, including:
– PAYE
– WCF
– NSSF
– Withholding Taxes
– SDL
– VAT filings
– Quarterly Advance Corporate Tax
– Annual Returns
Ensure payroll processing complies with Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) requirements
Generate EFD invoices for all sales transactions
Perform three-way matching for purchase invoices, ensuring EFD compliance
Audit Support & Compliance
Prepare and provide documentation for both internal and external audits
Liaise with auditors and respond to audit queries
Address audit findings and support implementation of corrective actions
Establish, review, and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures
Leadership & Process Improvement
Supervise and lead a team of 5–10 staff within the finance and administration function
Continuously identify process gaps and propose improvements
Support implementation and updating of accounting policies and procedures
Administration Support
Coordinate general office administration, including supplies, filing, and documentation
Provide administrative support to Operations, Projects, and HR departments
Support smooth day-to-day office and field operations
Perform any other duties as assigned by Management
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA (T) or ACCA qualification is highly preferred
Minimum of 3–5 years experience in accounting and administration roles
Proven supervisory experience managing a team of 5–10 staff
Strong understanding of AP/AR processes, accrual accounting, VAT and WHT application
Experience handling audits and statutory filings in Tanzania
Proficiency in Zoho Books (added advantage) or other accounting/ERP systems
Strong Microsoft Excel skills for reconciliations and data analysis
Experience with EFD systems and TRA compliance requirements
