Reporting Line: Chief Executive Officer
Job Type: Full-Time
Gross Salary: 100,000 – 120,000
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly driven Sales Manager to lead and scale field-based sales operations within a fast-growing agribusiness environment. This role is designed for a commercially astute professional who thrives in a lean startup setting, operates independently, and is motivated by performance-based rewards and long-term growth opportunities.
The successful candidate will take full ownership of sales execution, market expansion, reseller development, and team leadership while working closely with the executive leadership to drive sustainable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Pipeline & Account Management
- Manage a structured and active sales pipeline, including forecasting and opportunity tracking.
- Service existing customers through regular field visits, ensuring satisfaction, repeat orders, and effective product performance.
- Prospect, onboard, and develop new customers and reseller channels.
- Identify and pursue new sales outlets and trade opportunities.
- Ensure all customer orders are delivered on time, in the correct quantity, and to agreed quality standards.
- Resolve customer complaints through investigation, reporting, and solution implementation.
- Analyse customer purchase patterns to identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM and sales management systems.
2. Market Intelligence & Product Development
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, pricing, and product innovations.
- Gather market intelligence to inform product improvements and new product opportunities.
- Recommend changes to products, services, and commercial policies based on field insights.
3. Team Leadership & Growth
- Build, manage, and mentor a sales team of up to three (3) team members within the first year.
- Set clear sales targets, track performance, and drive accountability.
- Support skills development and performance improvement across the team.
4. Reporting & Executive Engagement
- Provide structured reporting to the executive team, including:
- Daily call and activity reports
- Weekly work plans
- Monthly sales and performance summaries
- Daily call and activity reports
- Proactively communicate pipeline risks, opportunities, and market developments.
- Support cross-functional initiatives as required.
5. Professional & Secondary Responsibilities
- Attend relevant agricultural trade shows, workshops, and industry forums.
- Maintain current technical and professional knowledge in agriculture and agribusiness.
- Build and sustain strong professional networks within the agricultural sector.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelors degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Crop Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in sales and marketing roles.
- Proven sales performance with positive employer references.
- Prior experience within Kenyas horticultural or agricultural sector is a strong advantage.
- Background in commercial and/or organic farming is highly desirable.
Technical & Professional Competencies
- Strong understanding of:
- Crop production systems
- Soil management
- Pest and disease control
- Agricultural inputs, including biological and soil-enhancing products
- Crop production systems
- Familiarity with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) protocols and farm improvement techniques.
- Strong numerical aptitude and confidence with basic calculations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and CRM tools.
- Comfortable using technology for sales tracking, reporting, and performance management.

Travel & Field Requirements
- Extensive fieldwork required across:
· Mt. Kenya Region
- Naivasha, Nakuru, and surrounding Rift Valley areas
· Western Kenya and Nyanza Region
- Regular coordination with the management team based in Naromoru.
- Valid drivers license and proven responsible driving ability required.
