About the Employer
Our client is a growing healthcare group with operations spanning community diagnostics and primary care, premium outpatient services, and medical supply distribution. Its teams work across several Nairobi locations and include clinical, commercial and operations staff, many on structured shifts. The group is strengthening its HR function to support growth, improve consistency and build high performing teams.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Deputy Human Resources Manager will lead the full HR cycle across the group's three Kenyan companies and take on selected administrative duties. This is a hands-on builder role for an HR leader who can create standards, build a capable team, digitise people processes and keep recruitment, payroll inputs, compliance, employee relations, performance management and staff records running accurately across every site.
What You Will Deliver
Establish one consistent HR standard across the group while keeping each company's records, payroll and compliance separate.
Design, recruit, manage and develop the HR team, with clear responsibilities, KPIs and weekly performance routines.
Complete the HR department manual, SOPs, templates, group HR policies and staff handbook.
Lead recruitment and structured onboarding for clinical, business development, sales and operations roles, including credential and professional licence verification.
Manage payroll inputs, staff records, statutory remittances, employee relations, discipline, grievances and exits.
Launch and manage the KPI and performance review cycle and support the rollout of a team management and incentive framework.
Implement digital HR management, including electronic staff files, attendance, rosters, leave, approval workflows, licence expiry reminders and monthly HR reports.
Manage administrative work covering premises, facilities, office supplies, suppliers, assets, business licences, permits, staff events and welfare.
Success in the First 90 Days
The appointment will be measured against practical outcomes.
By day 30, you will have met staff at all sites, reviewed files and contracts, delivered a gap list and action plan, proposed the HR structure, created the clinical licence register and taken control of payroll input deadlines, statutory checks, recruitment planning, licence renewals and the office asset count.
By day 60, staff files will be complete, one attendance and leave standard will be in use, the first group HR report will be delivered, probation reviews will be current, the first draft HR manual and policies will be ready, priority vacancies will be at hire or final-offer stage, and core digital records and workflows will be live.
By day 90, payroll inputs will have been submitted accurately for two consecutive months, the HR manual and handbook will be approved and in use, the HR team will be largely in place, the KPI cycle will be launched, and digital attendance, leave, approvals, reports and licence reminders will be operating across the group.
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field.
Current IHRM membership in good standing and a valid practising certificate.
At least 8 years of hands-on HR generalist experience, including at least 2 years supervising HR staff.
Experience across multiple entities, sites or shift based workforces.
Hands-on payroll input experience and strong knowledge of Kenyan statutory requirements.
Proven experience managing disciplinary and exit cases personally under the Employment Act, 2007.
End to end recruitment experience across clinical, commercial and operations roles.
Legal authorisation to work in Kenya, availability for the stated on-site schedule and willingness to travel regularly between Nairobi sites.
Useful Additional Experience
Experience in healthcare, clinical licence tracking, HR digitalisation, administrative management, incentive scheme implementation, Lark or similar workflow platforms, or international leadership environments will be an advantage.
Benefits
The package includes statutory benefits, annual leave in line with Kenyan employment law, discounted medical services at group branches and a 6 month probation period.
