Company Overview:
Our client is a well-established distributor of automotive spare parts in Nairobi and Mombasa. They are seeking to hire a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their Mombasa Branch and support daily finance operations.
Job Purpose:
The Accounts Assistant will support the finance department in maintaining accurate financial records and overseeing routine accounting functions. The role will focus on managing accounting data and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring all transactions are properly posted in the accounting system.
- Oversee daily stock takes, conduct spot checks, and reconcile stock records.
- Review daily sales reports and reconcile them with expenses and collections.
- Support in KRA and statutory matters, including the filing and reconciliation of VAT, PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, HELB, and NITA returns.
- Ensure timely compliance with tax obligations and maintain up-to-date statutory records.
- Manage daily cashbook entries and perform regular petty cash reconciliations.
- Ensure proper documentation and accountability of cash expenditures.
- Manage payments, invoicing, and follow-ups on outstanding receivables.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Update and post all financial transactions accurately in the ERP system (QuickBooks or similar).
Qualifications & Experience:
- CPA, Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in a busy high-pressure environment.
- Proficient in accounting software, especially QuickBooks and Excel.
- Strong understanding of Kenyan tax regulations and statutory filings.
