Gross Salary: KES 120,000 – 150,000
The HR Generalist will be responsible for managing end-to-end HR operations across the employee lifecycle while supporting strategic HR initiatives.
This role requires a well-rounded HR professional who can balance operational execution with strategic input, serving as a trusted advisor to both employees and management on all people-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Manage full-cycle recruitment including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring
- Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent
- Partner with department heads to define hiring needs and develop job descriptions
- Oversee onboarding to ensure seamless employee integration
- Build and maintain talent pipelines and external recruitment partnerships
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee concerns and inquiries
- Facilitate conflict resolution and handle disciplinary processes where necessary
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze trends to improve retention
- Drive employee engagement initiatives and foster a positive workplace culture
- Administer engagement surveys and recommend actionable improvements
Performance Management
- Administer and continuously improve the performance management framework
- Train and support managers on performance reviews and coaching
- Monitor performance cycles and ensure alignment with business objectives
- Support performance improvement plans and track outcomes
- Report on performance metrics and insights
Learning & Development
- Identify training needs through data analysis and stakeholder engagement
- Coordinate training programs, workshops, and development initiatives
- Manage the learning and development calendar and budget
- Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements
- Support employee career development and succession planning
HR Compliance & Administration
- Maintain accurate employee records in compliance with Kenyan labor laws
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (NSSF, SHA, PAYE) in collaboration with payroll
- Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures
- Manage leave and attendance tracking systems
Compensation & Payroll Support
- Collaborate with finance on payroll preparation and processing
- Ensure accurate payroll data (new hires, exits, changes)
- Administer employee benefits and handle related queries
- Support compensation reviews and benchmarking exercises
HR Reporting & Analytics
- Prepare periodic HR reports for management
- Analyze HR data and provide actionable insights
- Maintain HR dashboards and key performance indicators
- Support HR budgeting and cost monitoring
- Generate ad-hoc reports as required
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or a related field
- Professional certification (CHRP or equivalent) is highly desirable
- Membership with IHRM is required
Experience
- Minimum 3–4 years of progressive HR Generalist experience
- Proven experience in recruitment and employee relations
- Experience in a fast-paced or tech-driven environment is an added advantage
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office tools
