Role Overview

Our client, a well-established textile company of Indian origin expanding its operations into Kenya is seeking an experienced and result-oriented Senior Manager – Sales Packtech Exports to lead international business development, export sales, commercial strategy and end-to-end export operations for our Packtech business.

The ideal candidate should possess deep knowledge of packaging products, international trade regulations, supply chain coordination, and global customer handling while ensuring profitability, compliance, and timely execution of export operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. International Business Development

Identify and develop new export markets across regions including the Middle East, Europe, Africa, the US, and other emerging markets.

Develop and expand international customer base through strategic business development initiatives.

Appoint, manage, and support distributors, agents, and channel partners globally.

Generate leads, conduct market outreach, and convert opportunities into long-term business partnerships.

Represent the organization at international trade fairs, exhibitions, and industry events.

2. Key Account Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing international customers and key accounts.

Lead commercial negotiations related to pricing, contracts, payment terms, and supply agreements.

Ensure high customer satisfaction, timely issue resolution, and repeat business growth.

Manage escalations and maintain effective communication with global stakeholders.

3. Pricing & Commercial Strategy

Develop export pricing strategies considering:

o Raw material price fluctuations

o Freight and logistics costs

o Market competition

o Currency and forex impact

Ensure achievement of target margins (CM1/CM2).

Collaborate with internal teams to manage pricing during volatile market conditions.

Monitor profitability and recommend corrective commercial actions where required.

4. Export & Import Operations and Documentation

Oversee complete export and import processes from order receipt to shipment execution.

Manage export documentation including: Proforma Invoice, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Letter of Credit (LC) documentation, Bill of Lading (BL) , Certificate of Origin, Shipping and customs documentation

Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and export standards.

Coordinate with CHA, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and logistics partners for seamless execution.

5. Supply Chain & Operations Coordination

Coordinate closely with production, planning, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment.

Monitor dispatch schedules and ensure on-time deliveries to international customers.

Address operational challenges related to raw material shortages, supply disruptions, and pricing volatility.

Optimize shipment planning and inventory coordination for export efficiency.

6. Market Intelligence & Business Insights

Track global trends in packaging products such as nets, films, woven products, and related Packtech solutions.

Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market positioning.

Provide market insights and recommendations for new product development and market expansion.

Analyze export performance data and identify growth opportunities.

7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with:

o Procurement teams on raw material sourcing and cost challenges

o Finance teams on payments, LC management, forex exposure, and collections

o Quality teams on product specifications, certifications, and compliance requirements

Ensure alignment between commercial commitments and operational capabilities.

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of international export/import procedures and documentation.

Expertise in export sales, global business development, and international negotiations.

Sound knowledge of: Incoterms, LC terms, Forex management, International shipping and logistics.

Ability to manage pricing volatility and supply chain challenges effectively.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and execution capabilities.

Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office applications.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field.

MBA in International Business or Marketing is preferred.

Minimum 12+ years of experience in export sales and operations within Packaging, plastics, FMCG, or Industrial Products industries.

Experience in handling both export and import operations will be an added advantage.

Proven track record of managing international customers and achieving export sales growth.
