Purpose of the Role
Our client is an established provider of integrated electronic security and safety systems, including surveillance, access control, fire detection, building management, visitor management, parking management, and related solutions, serving clients across government, financial, commercial, and other sectors in Kenya and the region.
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships across the built-environment and infrastructure ecosystem, particularly with consultants, quantity surveyors, architects, project owners, developers, and security managers.
The primary objective of the role is to create early and consistent visibility for the client within projects that are under construction or in the pipeline, positioning the business as a preferred partner for electronic security and safety solutions.
This is a relationship-led, network-driven business development role, focused primarily on pipeline generation, stakeholder engagement, and opportunity development.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, build, and maintain strong relationships with consultants, quantity surveyors, architects, project owners, developers, security managers, and other key stakeholders within the built-environment and infrastructure ecosystem.
- Proactively identify, map, and track projects under construction or in the pipeline, engaging relevant stakeholders early in the project lifecycle.
- Build a strong network of industry professionals and key decision-makers who can generate and influence future business opportunities.
- Represent the client at industry events, professional association forums, site visits, networking functions, and other relevant industry engagements.
- Position the client as a trusted and capable partner for electronic security and safety systems.
- Identify, generate, and qualify new business opportunities before handing them over to the relevant presales and design teams.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of relationships, engagements, project pipelines, and opportunities within the CRM.
- Provide regular market intelligence to management, including competitor activity, upcoming tenders, industry developments, and changes in project pipelines.
- Work closely with presales and design teams to ensure a smooth and effective handover of qualified opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a healthy project pipeline aligned with the client's business development objectives.
- Own delivery against agreed business development and sales targets.
- Participate in periodic pipeline and performance review meetings, using CRM data to demonstrate progress, opportunities, and relationship activity.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of proven B2B business development, sales, or relationship management experience.
- Experience within construction, the built environment, electronic security, ELV, ICT, infrastructure, or a related industry is highly desirable.
- An established professional network among consultants, architects, quantity surveyors, developers, project owners, or security professionals is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with senior and professional stakeholders.
- Strong track record in business development, networking, lead generation, or pipeline development.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Confident engaging with architects, consultants, project owners, developers, and senior decision-makers.
- Highly self-driven, commercially aware, and comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple relationships and opportunities simultaneously.
- Comfortable using CRM systems to manage relationships, activities, and opportunity pipelines.
- Added advantage: Prior experience in the ELV (Extra Low Voltage), electronic security, surveillance, access control, fire detection, building management, or related technology sectors will be a strong advantage.
What the Client Offers

- Product and technical training upon onboarding; prior knowledge of specific security-system products is not essential.
