Our client is currently seeking to hire a Food Production and Sanitation Supervisor for our foodservice manufacturing facility in Hillside, NJ. The candidate must be bilingual (English/Spanish).

The production and sanitation supervisor is responsible for production operations on the third shift. This supervisor reports to the production manager. The position supervises a group of 20-25 hourly employees. This position is responsible for the supervision and coordination of sanitation and production worker activities in processing materials and manufacturing products.

 

This position supports the production team by directing work activities to maintain the cleanliness of the physical plant and equipment, including the building structure and process equipment, within cleaning time deadlines. This position will lead sanitation and interact with warehouse, quality assurance, human resources and operations staff to ensure the production of products meeting quality standards in a timely fashion. Safety is a primary objective, following established GMP, safety, regulatory and company procedures and policies. 


Duties & Responsibilities:

 
-Supervises third shift production staff to attain safety, quality, GMP, and production objectives.

-Supervises multiple production teams. Appropriately assigns duties to employees on the shift. 
-Interprets company policies to workers and enforce safety and sanitation regulations via company SSOPs, fairly and consistently. Serves as a role model for workers in terms of work ethic, professional image, and conduct in full compliance with all policies and procedures. 
-Executes production schedule for the shift. Monitors production performance to plan rates. 
-Issues production jobs to the production teams and lines. Verifies material issued and returned from each production job. 
-Ensures all paperwork is collected, completed, and submitted for production job closing. 
-Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials or supplies as required. 
-Supervises the sanitation function of the process and packaging operation. Coordinates the daily sanitation tasks. Work with quality technicians to ensure sanitation is complete and lines are ready for use. Documents in sanitation master log that tasks are complete. 
-As required, troubleshoots and conducts root cause analysis for process or equipment problems in order to minimize production line downtime. 
-Communicates with day shift production supervisors, production scheduler, maintenance, and inventory control as to follow-up actions coming onto the shift and actions requiring attention after third shift completion.

-Utilizes company systems to report production issues and maintenance work order requests. 
-Trained and certified to use cleaning chemicals according to guidelines and in a safe manner. 

-Trains and develops skills of third shift personnel.4. Perpetually assesses and adjusts strategies, systems, procedures, performance, capabilities, equipment, facilities, and people to continuously enhance safety, production, service, quality, and profitability. 
-Ensures all employees follow GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) to support production of the highest quality product. 
-Effectively manages overall direction, coordination, development, and motivation of subordinates. 
-Execution of supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. 
-Inspects work areas to determine type of work required and materials. 
-Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned. 

Requirements:

 
-Bilingual Spanish/English

-Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing company. 
-Strong organization skills. 
-Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, standard operating procedures and product specifications. 
-Good oral and written communication skills. 

-Working knowledge of GMP and HACCP. 
-Sanitation knowledge in the area of policy, programs, and systems. Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment. 
-While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, go up & down stairs, use hands and fingers, kneel, crouch, talk, and listen. Specific vision abilities for this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. 
-Basic computer skills. Microsoft Word and Outlook. Report queries and closing working orders in an ERP system.
