Bookkeeper - Restructuring & Insolvency
12-Month Renewable Contract | Hybrid | Cape Town
About the Role
We're seeking a Bookkeeper to support restructuring and insolvency services for a leading UK accounting firm. You'll manage estate accounts, process transactions, and maintain accurate financial records for businesses navigating financial distress.
Key Responsibilities
- Open and manage individual estate accounts for each insolvency assignment
- Process transactions in IPS system (industry-standard insolvency software)
- Generate payment vouchers and enter payment details for manager approval
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all estate and client accounts
- Prepare basic VAT returns and corporation tax accounts for review
- Maintain receipts and payments accounts (cashbook records)
- Close estate accounts and monitor bank charges
- Record time accurately in timesheet system for client billing compliance
Required Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience in cashiering or junior bookkeeping role
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently
Desirable: Banking reconciliations, VAT/tax procedures, financial software experience
