Bookkeeper - Restructuring & Insolvency

12-Month Renewable Contract | Hybrid | Cape Town

About the Role

We're seeking a Bookkeeper to support restructuring and insolvency services for a leading UK accounting firm. You'll manage estate accounts, process transactions, and maintain accurate financial records for businesses navigating financial distress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Open and manage individual estate accounts for each insolvency assignment
  • Process transactions in IPS system (industry-standard insolvency software)
  • Generate payment vouchers and enter payment details for manager approval
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all estate and client accounts
  • Prepare basic VAT returns and corporation tax accounts for review
  • Maintain receipts and payments accounts (cashbook records)
  • Close estate accounts and monitor bank charges
  • Record time accurately in timesheet system for client billing compliance

Required Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience in cashiering or junior bookkeeping role
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently

Desirable: Banking reconciliations, VAT/tax procedures, financial software experience
