Role Overview

As a Bookkeeper, you will work closely with clients to manage their day-to-day bookkeeping, ensure accuracy of financial records, and support year-end close processes. This is a client-facing role requiring excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver reliable, high-quality service. Will need to have a full understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • General bookkeeping (bank reconciliations, expenses, VAT/PAYE reconciliations).

  • Maintaining sales and purchase ledgers.

  • Preparing and reconciling management accounts.

  • VAT registration and preparation of returns.

  • Addressing accruals and deferred income considerations.

  • Rectifying historic bookkeeping issues.

  • Reconciling Xero financial reports (trial balance) to statutory accounts.

  • Providing support on VAT and PAYE-related matters.

  • Delivering excellent client service across all engagements.

What Were Looking For

  • Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP.

  • Proficiency with Xero and QuickBooks; familiarity with sales/payment platforms integrated with these systems.

  • Proven experience delivering bookkeeping services in a practice environment or to a client base.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trusted client relationships.

  • Ability to manage end-to-end bookkeeping cycles with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulatory requirements.
