About the job Secure Code Warrior - Senior Software Engineer - Content Applications

Geko is super excited to working closely with Secure Code Warriors to build the team out here in Reykjavík.

Who's Secure Code Warrior?

We're a hyper-growth cyber-security company driven by our purpose of making the world's coders more secure.

With our online secure coding platform, we train and equip software developers to be the first line of defence in their organizations, empowering them to think and act with a security mindset every day. They want to ship secure code with confidence - and we give them the skills and knowledge to do it!

With a recently secured $US48 million in Series B funding, and customers including some of the world's most well-known banks and telecommunications companies, we're now looking for the Marios to our Luigis, the pepper to our salt, and the Chewbaccas to our Hans Solos to join our global team of Warriors.

You will be joining a team that is responsible for developing exciting security training material targeted towards software developers.

The training is in the form of working, but deliberately insecure, applications where the students are guided through the process of how the vulnerabilities could be exploited, while looking at and correcting the insecure code that is responsible for the vulnerability.

You will be participating in designing and developing secure versions of applications and inventing and building insecure versions on top of the secure versions.

You’ll take the initiative in continual improvement – whether it be in the better use of tools and infrastructure, enhancing processes, inventing new training material, upskilling yourself and others, keeping the application dependencies up-to-date, or reducing complexity in the implementation.

We're looking for someone to help us

    • Lead the continuous expansion of our offering of gamified security training material
    • Invent new categories of challenges that teach lessons on application security to meet the re-education demands of software development companies
    • Make technical decisions for and diffuse technical know-how to a team of junior Content Developers
    • Periodically cycle between building applications for content and working on our core products (for variety, honing skills, and knowledge sharing)

We’d be particularly delighted to hire someone who has:

    • Strong experience in web software development, with at least some of a variety of popular languages (e.g. C#, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, PHP)HTML, CSS
    • Git - in particular understands rebasing, submodules, and patchingTDD
    • Cloud and DevOps oriented tools and processes (esp AWS, Docker, Terraform, Bash, Python)
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently
    • An interest and willingness to learn about application security vulnerabilities
