Position Description: GRI is seeking multiple mid and senior level experts to serve as short and long term Gender and Inclusion Specialists under the anticipated USAID Programming for Prevention and Peacebuilding (P4P2) IDIQ. GRI is seeking specialists with expertise in gender, religious, ethnicity, caste, and/or disability inclusion.

Successful candidates will have experience in one or more areas of the following areas: 

  • Addressing physical, sexual, psychological, and systemic violence
  • Promoting inclusive governance, decision making, and planning processes, at community and local government levels
  • Strengthening civil society’s ability to advocate for the development and implementation of gender-sensitive and inclusive laws and policies in transitional environments
  • Institutionalizing gender-responsive approaches to peace and security
  • Improving women and marginalized leadership and participation in all aspects of conflict prevention, stabilization, and peacebuilding
  • Building the capacity of key stakeholders to lead and participate in inclusive accountable peace processes and politics
  • Addressing domestic abuse, sexual, and gender-based violence, trafficking, disappearances and kidnapping, including men and boys
  • Protecting women and girls from gender-based violence, exploitation, and abuse 
  • Supporting trauma and psycho-social healing and other processes designed to address psychological and social wounds of individuals and society
  • Facilitating access to justice for traditionally marginalized populations
  • Addressing bias in policing
  • Ensuring safe, equitable access to relief and recovery
  • Examining and addressing links between violent misogyny and violent extremism
  • Designing safe and inclusive public works and infrastructure
  • Building resilience through assistance that supports women’s roles in the management of natural resources and mitigation of resource-related conflict, and adaptation to climate change
  • Countering disinformation and hate speech, and promoting the online safety and security of women and vulnerable groups


Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated technical expertise in promoting the inclusion of women and marginalized communities in conflict prevention and peacebuilding
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience
  • BA required; MA or PhD preferred
  • Prior experience with USAID programming preferred
  • Proven success liaising with representatives at all levels on gender and inclusion issues
  • Familiarity with the US National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS), Countering Violence Extremism (CVE) Policy, Global Fragility Act, Counter Trafficking in Persons Policy; USAID Gender Equality and Female Empowerment Policy
