Overview

Gender Resources, Inc, and our partner Triple C Consulting, are currently seeking gender specialists to expand our roster of experts for the USAID Africa Trade and Investment Program through 2026.

About the Project:

The USAID Africa Trade and Investment (ATI) program is designed to bolster the U.S. Government's ability to boost trade and investment to, from, and within the African continent. The continent-wide program is USAID's flagship effort in support of the Prosper Africa initiative and will expand and accelerate two-way trade and investment between African nations and the United State.

The G-Hub, supported by the USAID Office of Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (GenDev), will focus on providing a range of services in advancing gender equality and women's economic empowerment (GEWEE) across ATI and its buy-in clients. This activity seeks to build on proven models to design, implement, and advance GEWEE across the entire ATI contract.

Roster of Experts:

Gender Resources, Inc (GRI) is currently seeking experts in women and trade and women in investment for multiple upcoming short-term assignments to support women in trade across the continent of Africa, including northern Africa. We are seeking African experts and international experts with experience in Sub Saharan and Northern Africa, at both the Specialist and Senior Specialist level. Language ability in local and indigenous languages, French, Arabic, and/or Portuguese is sought.

(Senior) Specialists should have expertise in one or more of the following technical areas:

  • Women in trade negotiations
  • Gender and trade law
  • Gender and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
  • Womens access to finance, including seed funding and venture capital
  • Gender in climate regulations and finance mechanisms
  • ESG tools and practices
  • Start up and accelerator services for women entrepreneurs
  • Business advisory services for inclusion practices
  • Coaching for women in business
  • Institutional behavior change for inclusion
  • Womens inclusion in sector specific value chains, especially agriculture, energy, ITC, and financial services

Cross-cutting expertise in feminist research methodology, market research, MEL, training, coaching, adult learning, and/or policy development strongly preferred.

General Qualifications:

  • For Senior Specialist: Bachelors degree and 15 years experience or Masters degree and 13 years experience; For Specialist: Bachelors degree and 12 years experience or Masters degree and 10 years experience
  • Fluency in English required
  • Prior experience working in one or more Sub Saharan or Northern African countries
  • Prior experience working on USAID programs preferred
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • The ability to think creatively and be proactive in program implementation
  • High level of interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with all levels of staff, US and foreign government personnel, members of donor organizations, funders and policy makers
  • Self-motivated and well organized
  • Ability to work collaboratively, supportively, and respectfully with others
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
