Postgres RDS Developer

Gentis Solutions is in search of a Postgres RDS Developer who is motivated and intellectually curious to fill a full-time direct-hire position. This remote role is only open to US citizens residing in the United States with an active Secret security clearance. The ideal candidate will possess an advanced understanding of installing, managing and performance tuning of PostgreSQL database applications.

Requirements

• 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Eng or related (highly preferred)
• Ability to work with US Federal clients and possess an ACTIVE SECRET clearance
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in PostgreSQL Database Administration/ Engineering
• Strong SQL programming skills and is able to develop DBA applications for system automation and integration

Desired Skills

• Hands-on experience with Hadoop and AWS RDS DB instances is a big plus
• Understanding of Javascript, AWS native services (e.g., Lambda, Step Function, S3, EC2) is a big plus
• Working knowledge of Hadoop, Oracle is a big plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to take the initiative to complete tasks with minimal supervision
• Skilled in verbal, written and oral communication
• Strong team player with a great attitude
• Flexibility and willingness to go beyond the call of duty. Highly self-motivated and directed (a go-getter)
• Ability to take ownership and drive issues to closure

Typical Duties

• Install, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL database
• Implement monitoring and alerting, implement backup and recovery processes, provide system and SQL performance tuning and assist in business process integration with various data sources
• Fulfill user requests ranging from access control, backup, restore, refresh to non-production to performance tuning
• Provides online & on call coverage for production support and administration of PostgreSQL, Hadoop and AWS RDS DB instances
• Hands-on experience loading and performance tuning of data processes in PostgreSQL, Hadoop and AWS RDS instances
