About the job Textile Designer (Rugs & Carpets)
Rug & Carpet Atelier — Design Brief
We are inviting qualified rug and carpet designers to submit a pitch to win a contractual engagement covering two seasonal collections: Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.
Selection will be based on design point of view, research approach, and proposed terms, prior to any commitment to execute the work.

The Contract
Design the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 rug collections against our Design Guidance document. Your point of view should be informed by rug-weaving traditions and motifs from Turkey, Iran, and the Caucasus, and by where those designs sit against the competitive landscape — both dedicated rug design houses and national home retailers based in the US & Europe.
The quality and depth of research conducted before any design work begins is a critical component of the engagement — not a formality ahead of it.
Designs proposed without a rigorous, well-documented research foundation will not be considered complete deliverables.
What to Include in Your Pitch
This is what we evaluate to decide who gets the contract:
- Your design point of view for the two lines — direction, not finished designs.
- A portfolio of past designs, along with a compilation of the research conducted in preparing them.
- Beyond design inspiration, your ability to read the competitive landscape — competing rug design houses and national home retailers — and how that shapes your recommendations.
Qualifications
Separate from the pitch itself: these are the qualifications the person or team who actually executes the work must have. Whoever is submitting the pitch is responsible for confirming the executing designer(s) meet these — the pitch and the execution don't have to be the same person, but both must be accounted for before we sign.
- 8–12 years of professional experience in rug, carpet, or textile design.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Turkish, Persian (Iranian), Caucasian, and other textile regional design traditions.
- Working proficiency in CAD.
- Working proficiency in Galaincha rug design software.
Note: The original brief specified an age range (25–30). That's dropped here — posting an age requirement is age discrimination in most jurisdictions and adds legal exposure for no benefit. The 8–12 years experience requirement is doing that job instead.
