Founding Engineer (AI Accounting & Tax Automation)

Responsibilities

• Build and grow the core platform that automates tax preparation, owning backend design while also working on front-end integration.
• Design the backend systems and main workflows for the next major release of the product.
• Create and improve AI pipelines that read financial documents using OCR and LLMs, turning feedback from large accounting firms into dependable features.
• Make key backend design decisions independently, working directly with the CTO and Head of Engineering.
• Expand the AI agents from tax preparation into related accounting work, including auditing.

Requirements

• 2–6 years of software development experience with strong Python. TypeScript is a strong plus.
• Experience at a venture-backed, fast-growing startup (Seed to Series B). Candidates who have only worked long-term at large enterprises are less suited.
• A strong academic record, preferably a CS, Math, or Physics degree from a leading university.
• Based in the US and legally authorized to work there. No visa sponsorship available.
