Account Director (AD)
Location: Remote (US-based preferred)
Reports to: Head of Client Services (HOCS)**
Collaborates closely with: Integrated Marketing Director (IMD)
Direct Reports: Project Managers, Coordinators, dotted-line oversight of department delivery
teams
Role Overview
The Account Director is the client relationship.
They ensure all projects run smoothly — managing communication, pacing, and quality across
departments — while maintaining the confidence and calm that clients expect from the agency.
The Account Director owns the how: they are responsible for the daily rhythm of delivery,
internal coordination, and client satisfaction.
They work alongside the Integrated Marketing Director (IMD), who owns the why and what —
strategy, creative direction, and high-level client vision — while the AD ensures every detail of
that vision is executed flawlessly.
Core Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management (Direct Ownership)
Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients across Tier 1 and Tier 2
accounts.
Build and maintain deep client trust — leading with empathy, organization, and clarity.
Partner with the IMD to translate strategic direction into actionable next steps for internal
teams.
Manage client expectations around timelines, deliverables, and feedback cycles.
Lead weekly client status calls, campaign check-ins, and delivery reviews.
Escalate strategic or creative challenges to IMD or HOCS when necessary — with
proposed solutions, not just problems.
Project Delivery & Execution (Direct Ownership)
Oversee the full delivery lifecycle across creative, social, influencer, and content
workstreams.
Manage timelines, scopes, and priorities across all departments, ensuring teams are on
track.
Own Monday boards and ensure all deliverables are assigned, tracked, and completed
on time.
Lead internal pod syncs — ensuring cross-functional clarity between Creative, Social,
Influencer, and Production.
Coordinate asset approvals, feedback routing, and client handoffs with precision.
Proactively flag bandwidth issues or potential delays to HOCS and COO for early
intervention.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Serve as the bridge between the IMD and department leads — turning strategic
direction into executional plans.
Ensure departments (Social, Influencer, Creative, Growth) are aligned on priorities,
milestones, and deliverable dependencies.
Work with department heads to confirm creative resourcing, scheduling, and feedback
readiness.
Partner with the IMD to maintain overall client health — balancing creative excellence
with operational consistency.
Own the communication bridge between Account Services and Operations (COO /
HOCS).
Internal & Client Communication
Lead or co-lead client presentations with the IMD, ensuring logistical flow and accuracy
of deliverables.
Draft and distribute client recaps, timelines, and progress summaries following meetings.
Maintain clear, proactive communication between clients and teams — ensuring no
surprises or dropped handoffs.
Serve as the voice of clarity internally, simplifying client needs into organized briefs and
task lists.
Coordinate with PMs and Coordinators to keep internal notes and project status updated
daily.
Account Health & Financial Management
Partner with HOCS and COO to track account profitability, budgets, and staffing
efficiency.
Monitor hours and resource utilization within scope.
Identify scope creep early and work with HOCS to resolve through change orders or
client resets.
Support renewal and upsell conversations by surfacing opportunities and demonstrating
delivery excellence.
Contribute to quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with clear data and project summaries.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Manage and mentor Project Managers or Coordinators within assigned accounts.
Lead by example — modeling proactive communication, calm leadership, and
accountability.
Provide feedback to department leads on delivery efficiency and inter-team
collaboration.
Participate in leadership syncs with IMD, HOCS, and department heads to ensure
alignment.
