Role Overview
The Premium Video Editor is responsible for taking pre-planned concepts, shot lists, and raw footage from production and transforming them into high-quality, brand-aligned video content for campaigns, paid media, and social.
This role is highly executional but requires strong creative judgment—ensuring every edit reflects the intended concept, brand tone, and performance goals outlined by the team.
How This Role Fits Into the Workflow
After each shoot, the editor will receive:
- Shot list
- Concept brief per video
- Raw footage (organized by scene/look)
- Any reference examples or inspiration
From there, they are responsible for:
👉 Interpreting the brief correctly
👉 Selecting the strongest takes
👉 Building the story + pacing
👉 Applying color, sound, and polish
👉 Delivering final edits + cutdowns
Core Responsibilities
1. Translate Creative Briefs into Final Edits
- Review concept brief + shot list before editing
- Understand:
- The goal of the video (brand vs performance vs social)
- Key moments that must be included
- Intended tone (luxury, playful, educational, etc.)
2. Select + Sequence Footage
- Review all raw footage and:
- Pull best takes
- Identify strongest visuals
- Avoid repetitive or weak clips
- Intentional
- Story-driven
- Visually cohesive
3. Premium Editing Execution
- Execute high-end edits with:
- Clean, seamless transitions
- Strong pacing (no dead space)
- Music syncing + beat matching
4. Advanced Color Grading (Key Focus)
- Perform:
- Color correction (balance exposure, white balance, skin tones)
- Color grading (create a cohesive, elevated look)
- Different clips, lighting setups, and scenes
- Beauty clean, glowing skin tones
- Fashion contrast + richness
- Lifestyle natural but elevated
5. Platform + Performance Adaptation
- Edit for:
- Paid media (conversion-focused)
- Organic social (engagement-focused)
- Strong hook within first 1–3 seconds
- Fast, engaging pacing where needed
- Clean storytelling for longer-form assets
6. Sound Design + Finishing
- Add:
- Music aligned with tone of content
- Light sound design where applicable
- Clean audio levels
- No distracting inconsistencies
7. Deliverables + Versioning
- Deliver:
- Final hero video(s)
- Cutdowns (6s, 10s, 15s, 30s, etc.)
- Platform-specific formats (9:16, 1:1, 16:9)
- Revisions
- Future reuse
