We are currently recruiting, on behalf of our client, a Geophysicist to support exploration, appraisal, and development activities in Angola.
Position Summary
The Geophysicist will be responsible for acquiring, processing, interpreting, and integrating geophysical data to support hydrocarbon exploration, reservoir characterization, and field development. The successful candidate will work closely with geologists, reservoir engineers, drilling teams, and project stakeholders to identify subsurface structures and evaluate exploration opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify subsurface geological structures and hydrocarbon prospects.
- Process and analyze geophysical datasets to support exploration and development activities.
- Integrate geological, petrophysical, well log, and seismic information to improve subsurface understanding.
- Generate structural maps, depth maps, seismic horizons, and fault interpretations.
- Support reservoir characterization and prospect evaluation.
- Assist in planning exploration and appraisal drilling programs.
- Perform seismic attribute analysis and contribute to geological modeling.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and exploration recommendations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary technical meetings.
- Maintain geophysical databases and ensure data integrity.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and adopt industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, HSE policies, and international industry regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Geology, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas, Energy, or Mining industry.
- Experience interpreting seismic data for exploration or development projects.
- Knowledge of structural geology and basin analysis.
- Experience integrating geophysical and geological datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Technical Skills
Candidates should have practical experience with one or more of the following software packages:
- Petrel
- Kingdom Suite
- Landmark DecisionSpace
- OpendTect
- GeoFrame
- Petrosys
- ArcGIS
- Techlog
Knowledge and experience in:
- 2D & 3D Seismic Interpretation
- Structural Mapping

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in offshore and/or onshore exploration projects.
- Knowledge of West African sedimentary basins will be an advantage.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary exploration teams.
- Membership of professional organizations such as SEG, EAGE, AAPG, or SPE will be considered an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Portuguese language skills will be considered an added advantage.
