We are currently recruiting, on behalf of our client, a qualified and experienced Geologist to support exploration, field development, and subsurface evaluation activities in Angola.

Position Summary

The Geologist will be responsible for interpreting geological data, evaluating subsurface formations, and supporting exploration, appraisal, and development projects. The successful candidate will collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and multidisciplinary technical teams to identify resource potential, reduce geological risk, and contribute to successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret geological, geophysical, and well data to evaluate subsurface formations.
  • Develop geological models to support exploration, appraisal, and production activities.
  • Perform structural, stratigraphic, and sedimentological analyses.
  • Identify and evaluate hydrocarbon prospects and geological risks.
  • Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, and subsurface models.
  • Integrate seismic interpretation with geological data.
  • Participate in exploration well planning and drilling operations.
  • Analyze core samples, cuttings, well logs, and geological reports.
  • Support reservoir characterization and field development studies.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and geological evaluations.
  • Ensure geological data quality and maintain geological databases.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize exploration and production performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, industry standards, and HSE requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Oil & Gas, Mining, or Energy industry.
  • Experience in exploration, appraisal, and development geology.
  • Strong knowledge of sedimentology, structural geology, stratigraphy, and basin analysis.
  • Experience interpreting well logs and geological datasets.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Technical Skills

Candidates should have practical experience with one or more of the following software packages:

  • Petrel
  • Kingdom Suite
  • ArcGIS
  • Leapfrog
  • GeoGraphix
  • Techlog
  • Petrosys
  • RockWorks

Experience in:

  • Geological Mapping

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in offshore and/or onshore Oil & Gas exploration projects.
  • Knowledge of the geology of West African sedimentary basins will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience supporting drilling and field development operations.
  • Membership of professional organizations such as AAPG, GSA, SEG, EAGE, or SPE is desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Portuguese language skills will be considered an advantage.
