We are currently recruiting, on behalf of our client, a highly experienced Senior Geophysicist to support exploration and subsurface evaluation activities in Angola.

Position Summary

The Senior Geophysicist will be responsible for leading geophysical interpretation, seismic analysis, and subsurface evaluation to support hydrocarbon exploration, field development, and reservoir characterization. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and exploration managers, to identify and evaluate exploration prospects and optimize field development strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data for exploration and development projects.
• Perform structural and stratigraphic interpretation to identify hydrocarbon prospects.
• Integrate geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and reservoir data to generate subsurface models.
• Conduct seismic attribute analysis, inversion, and advanced geophysical interpretation.
• Evaluate exploration opportunities and provide recommendations for drilling locations.
• Support reservoir characterization and field development planning.
• Prepare technical reports, prospect evaluations, risk assessments, and management presentations.
• Participate in exploration well planning and drilling operations.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior geophysicists.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to improve exploration success.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and HSE requirements.
• Keep abreast of new geophysical technologies, interpretation techniques, and industry best practices.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Geology, Physics, or a related discipline.
• Master's Degree in Geophysics or a related field is highly desirable.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in geophysical interpretation within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven experience with offshore and/or onshore exploration projects.
• Extensive experience in seismic interpretation and prospect generation.
• Strong knowledge of basin analysis, structural geology, and reservoir characterization.
• Experience supporting exploration and appraisal drilling campaigns.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and technical presentation abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.

Technical Skills

Candidates should have practical experience with one or more of the following software packages:

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in offshore Oil & Gas operations.
• Experience working in deepwater exploration environments.
• Knowledge of West African geological basins will be an advantage.
• Membership of recognized professional organizations (SEG, AAPG, EAGE, SPE, or similar).
• Fluency in English is mandatory.
• Portuguese language skills will be considered an advantage.
