Agro-industrial Workshop Director

Context: 

Gladys Synergies is recruiting on behalf of a leading agro-industrial group in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The company is undergoing significant expansion across multiple business lines, including large-scale farms and technical infrastructure.

This strategic role is critical to driving the performance, reliability, and standardization of all technical services across the organization. The position is based in Lubumbashi, with oversight of multiple sites.

• Salary: USD 5,000 – 11,000 (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Oversight: Define and enforce SOPs for maintenance, repair, diagnostics, and spare parts management across all sites.

• Operational Excellence: Ensure high machine availability and minimize downtime through rigorous preventive maintenance programs.

• Asset Management: Manage a diverse fleet including tractors, harvesters, irrigation systems, trucks, and support equipment.

• Supply Chain & Standardization: Standardize spare parts lists and implement minimum stock levels to ensure operational continuity.

• Performance Monitoring: Conduct regular audits of workshops, enforce corrective actions, and optimize machine utilization.

• Technical Strategy: Define machine replacement strategies based on detailed cost and performance analysis.

• Capacity Building: Train operators and technicians to reduce equipment misuse and prevent breakdowns.

• KPI Management: Monitor and report on machine uptime, Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), maintenance costs per hour, and stock rotation.

Profile:

• Education: Degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering.

• Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience managing heavy equipment or multi-site workshops.

• Leadership: Strong leadership skills and high operational discipline are essential.

• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of agricultural or heavy machinery maintenance and technical service delivery.

• Adaptability: Proven track record in managing complex technical operations in demanding environments.

• Languages: Fluent in English; proficiency in French is highly desirable for local coordination.
