Our client is a strategic player in the energy sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo, committed to developing large-scale and innovative projects, particularly in the renewable energy sector.

As part of its expansion, the company is seeking a Senior Power Trader (M/F) responsible for rapidly identifying energy purchasing opportunities and structuring competitive solutions for the mining and industrial sectors in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Identify, negotiate, purchase, and resell electrical energy on the regional Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) market to supply the company's industrial and mining clients.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), national utilities including SNEL, transmission operators, regional energy traders, and major industrial and mining consumers.
• Conduct regular market analyses and monitor regulatory developments affecting electricity markets in Central Africa.

Candidate Profile

• You hold a Master's degree (Bachelor's degree +5 years of higher education) in Electrical Engineering, Energy, International Trade, Finance, Economics, or an equivalent field.
• You have 5 to 10 years of experience in the electricity sector, with proven expertise in energy trading, regional electricity markets, PPA agreements, and cross-border electricity transactions. Experience within the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) is considered a major asset.
• You possess strong knowledge of energy trading mechanisms, electricity purchase and sale agreements, wheeling arrangements, and regional interconnections, combined with solid financial and commercial analytical skills. Knowledge of the Congolese electricity market, SNEL, and mining sector stakeholders is highly desirable.
• You are an excellent negotiator with a strong results-oriented mindset, outstanding interpersonal skills, solid business development capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a demanding environment.
• Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory; professional proficiency in French is a significant advantage.
