Context:

Gladys Synergies is recruiting a Consumer & Market Insights (CMI) Manager on behalf of a leading agro-industrial group in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This role is essential for transforming the organization into an insights-driven marketing company by generating deep, actionable intelligence that directly influences brand strategy, communication, and business decisions across both fresh and dry business categories. The role is based in Lubumbashi.

  • Salary: USD 2,000 – 6,000 net per month (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consumer & Market Understanding: Lead qualitative and quantitative research, including FGDs and IDIs, to understand consumer behavior and local market dynamics.

  • Insights Generation: Convert complex data into sharp, actionable strategic recommendations for brand and business teams.

  • Research Program Management: Design and execute an annual research roadmap aligned with business priorities, managing projects from briefing through to reporting.

  • Strategic Integration: Ensure insights are effectively integrated into product development, marketing campaigns, and communication strategies.

  • Team Leadership: Manage and build the capability of the research team in moderation, analysis, and disciplined documentation.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a strategic partner to Brand, Sales, and Trade Marketing teams, presenting findings clearly to senior management.

  • Knowledge Management: Maintain a centralized insights repository and track consumer and market trends over time for easy accessibility.

Profile:

  • Experience: 5–8 years of experience in Market Research or Consumer Insights, specifically within the FMCG or consumer-driven sectors.

  • Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in qualitative research (ethnography, FGDs) and quantitative analysis. Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and research tools.

  • Analytical Capability: Strong ability to derive hypotheses and convert raw data into meaningful business storytelling.

  • Soft Skills: Strong moderation, probing, and presentation skills.

  • Behavioral Traits: Deep curiosity regarding consumer behavior, high intellectual rigor, and an objective, unbiased mindset.

  • Language Requirements: Fluent in French, knowledge of English would be a big advantage

  • Adaptability: Willingness to be based in Lubumbashi and conduct regular market visits to understand ground reality.
